ORCHARD PARK - Wednesday May 23, 2018

Hey OP! Next week is our active transportation and bike to school week! It is our goal to increase our physical activity by choosing a physical ode of transportation to get to school. Teachers will be conducting surveys in your homeroom this week so we can see how many of you are willing to accept this challenge. Let's stay active OP! To get us going, here are some facts about choosing a physical mode of transportation instead of driving in a car to school:
Did you know that walking or rolling to school will help you learn better? Just 20 minutes of physical activity before school will improve your concentration for up to 4 hours!

And speaking of walking... combined with our active transportation week, next week is also the start to our next Step Challenge! That's right, we are challenging ANY student in grade 4 to 8 and any staff member to participate in a step challenge. Rules and details will be posted beside the sign up sheet outside the gym. Students are asked to sign up today or tomorrow. Please indicate on the sheet if you'll be using your own devise or will need to borrow from the school.

Mr. Vize would like to congratulate the concert band for an excellent performance yesterday at Canada's Wonderland. The band played very well and the adjudicator was complimentary of our style and technique. The band greatly represented Orchard Park well while demonstrating our Panther Pillars to the highest degree. Well done Band - there will be no practice today but make sure you hold onto your music until next week.
