New Principal Message

Let me Introduce…

Dear Parents,

As the new Principal at Orchard Park Public School, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to my new learning community.

Thank you for making my first few weeks at Orchard Park such a pleasure!  I have enjoyed meeting and talking with so many of you either by phone or in person.  The care and support that you give your children contributes to the positive attitude that they express towards learning.

It is so nice to come back ‘home’ to Halton where I spent my childhood and attended Martin Street and J.M. Denyes Public Schools.   Although Halton is much, much larger than I remember, I still feel the small town atmosphere here at Orchard Park Public School where I have been welcomed warmly by staff and students.

I have been involved as an educator in many different facets over the last 28 years including Kindergarten, Teacher-Librarian, Counsellor, Physical Education, a Special Education Resource Teacher and most recently, as a Vice Principal at Hawthorne Village Public School in Milton, ON.    I am very excited about this next step in my journey as a Principal and respect that I have many new things to learn.   I appreciate that I am entering a position with tremendous responsibility but it is also an honor to know that I will be working within such a dynamic learning community.

My first impressions of Orchard Park support my belief that a school is more than just a place to learn to read and write.  The extra activities that are offered by our energetic and caring staff help to build pride, engage our students and add to the experience of learning.  If children are engaged, they will be more successful at school.

I sense that Orchard Park Public School is a place where children, parents, staff and community members and administrators learn together.  I look forward to meeting more of the parents and community members and encourage you to drop by and say hello.

Many thanks,

Mrs. Shelley Wigle
